Information for Consumers

We are committed to serving our consumers. Helping our consumers find a job and assisting them with being a successful employee is our top priority. To help you reach your employment goals, we can provide several important services to you. These services are explained below.

Assessment Services

The assessment is a functional evaluation involving obtaining information from consumers and other important people in their lives, as well as having consumers identify jobs in which they are interested in pursuing. Situational assessments allow the job candidate to try out different types of jobs and working environments before making a commitment to any one job. They also provide the career specialists with a detailed picture of the job candidate's level of motivation, learning style, communication skills, strengths, specific areas of interest for employment, and accommodations that may be needed to ensure success at a job.

Job Development Services

If it has been determined that job development is the next step, the job candidate is assisted by the career specialist in identifying job openings to pursue, completing applications, completing resumes, and interviewing. The career specialist also works closely with the business community to determine job availability and requirements.

On-Site Training

If needed, one-on-one training assistance may be provided. This can take many different forms, depending on the person’s needs, but may include: helping with learning how to perform the assigned tasks, facilitating the person’s integration into the job site, helping the person establish relationships with co-workers and others to help them be successful, and setting up task schedules and other items to help maximize the person’s success.

Follow-along services---Advocacy, Ongoing Consultation, and Career Progression

During follow along visits, the career specialists will work with the employee and his employer on addressing any issues that impact the person’s performance. The person will also be assisted with advocating for more hours, changing schedules, learning new responsibilities, adapting to new managers, etc. Re-training and teaching new skills are also part of the services offered by the program during the follow along phase.
