Recycling Media with ACT

**UPDATE – 4/20/2018** – As of August 2016, we are no longer operating our recycling program or accepting media to recycle.

We would like to thank everyone who supported our recycling efforts over the past twenty plus years.

For almost 25 years, ACT has been recycling donated media materials and has been able to provide employment to many individuals.

However, we’ve come to a time when our revenue from recycling no longer covers the expenses we incur to recycle. As a result, effective November 2014, ACT stopped accepting donated items of any kind for recycling. ACT has implemented a fee-based service in our recycling program.

The information below explains how to purchase recycling services through ACT.

Our Recycling Program: What We Recycle and Fees Included

ACT recycles VHS tapes, CDs, DVDS, Blue-Rays, and the majority of the plastic storage cases for these tapes and discs. ACT is unable to recycle the white vinyl (Disney-style) VHS cases. At the present time, ACT does not recycle any other items.

ACT charges a competitive fee for the recycling of the media materials.

Fees to recycle media are based on the weight of the products to be recycled. Up to 25 pounds of material costs $9.95. Additional weight over 25 pounds will cost $0.35 per pound.

If you have items you would like recycled that are not listed above, the City of Columbia might be able to help.  Go to their website to find out.
