Support Your ReachOut Program
The Board of Directors adopted the ReachOut program a number of years ago to establish a fund that would be a place to accumulate gifts to the organization. They recognized that there were needs from time to time that were beyond the scope of regular budgeted items, and they wanted to be able to have a source of funds to meet these needs. The development of ReachOut was a simple way for tax-exempt charitable gifts to be given to ACT.
The establishment of the fund was spearheaded by a member of the Board of Directors, Jerry Braznell. Jerry was passionate about this fund, and successfully led his colleagues on the board in its establishment. He felt that with this ReachOut program, any person can make an honorarium/memorial gift to benefit the programs or participants of ACT. Jerry had the distinction of being a charter member of the Board of Directors in 1975, and again served on the Board from 2000 – 2006, including a year as its president. Upon his death in 2009 Jerry left a considerable gift to the organization.
With ReachOut, ACT has a charitable giving program to serve participants in significant ways. With ACT’s budget heavily reliant on public funding, it is important to build cash reserves in the event of cutbacks. ReachOut contributions are typically tax-exempt, and used to improve the care and conditions for ACT participants. To be part of ReachOut, a gift can be given for any reason, or to recognize:
- A special event such as a birthday, anniversary, or other special occasion to honor someone
- A memorial given in memory of a relative or friend
